Our History
It all started back in 1974 by Jon Beach. Jon was a recent graduate of Cal State University Fullerton with a degree in biology. At that time biotech had not yet been invented and there were limited opportunities for a career in biology. Jon teamed with a friend, David Schafer, who had the idea of starting an asphalt paving company. In 1982 David Schafer moved on to start another business, but City Service Paving gained some additional key employees including George Puente, another Cal State Fullerton graduate, Keith Cunningham, who came to City Service from Permacast Asphalt, and Darrel Brown from New Covenant Paving. City Service has completed over 30,000 different paving jobs in Southern California and over 50 million a year sold last year alone.
